Two quick journal prompts for the New Year

Rapid-fire questions to help you focus on joyful art-making.

Making a big decision without journaling is like driving with my eyes closed — it feels like I have no control and don’t know where I’m going.

Writing my thoughts on paper helped me say “no” to career goals last year, and change lanes to focus on art and writing.

Here we are, almost another trip around the sun. It’s time to cruise into another year with a new set of prompts for your journal.

Prompts for your journal

  • Think about happy moments when you were making art this year. Where were you? What inspired you? Write about it.

  • How can you create more of those HAPPY ART MOMENTS in the upcoming year?

  • How can you protect your time to focus on a creative habit? Shutting off your phone for an hour a day? Asking someone to help with chores? Carrying a sketchbook everywhere? What can you give up?

In the video

  • My response to the prompts

  • A cryptic message I don’t remember writing in a tiny journal

  • Three pages in my sketchbook to set a tone for the upcoming year

Sharing my practice and hosting our sessions this year has been an honor and a privilege. I’d love to hear how you feel about 2025 winding down, and what’s on your mind for 2026!
