Sketching in New York City

Here’s a picture of my first visit to New York City:

That’s me and my cousin on the left. Me again on the right, after climbing the Statue of Liberty.

At six years old, FAO Schwarz was easily the highlight of that trip.

Here’s me in NYC thirty-something years later.

I returned with the same childlike wonder, carrying a backpack full of art supplies and sketchbooks. Here are a few of many highlights and sketches from my recent trip!

What a treat to meet and teach with Samantha Dion Baker! I loved every minute of setting up the workshop, making a special zine, chatting, and sharing the magic of color with creative humans!

Meeting some of the wonderful members of this community was super special: Kate MC, Lisa Hancock, Anabella Cherry. Also, Susan Orlins and Nanette Martin! I need our photo!

I also had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn Yoo, who gave me a copy of her incredible, already-sold-out zine Rules to Live By.
