Make time for Color Play

How I weave a new color into my practice

Some days, my watch tells me it’s time to draw, but my brain says “do something else, you can sketch later!” That’s when I turn to color palettes. For some reason, putting a bunch of colors next to each other can get our brains PUMPED about making art!

Prompt: Make some color palettes!

There’s no pressure to make a masterpiece. Imagine all your art supplies jumping and yelling “pick me! pick me!” You’ll feel powerful!

Can you guess which palettes I used in this drawing?

You can watch a timelapse of me drawing this near the end of the video.

Below the paywall, you’ll find the process by which I made the drawing. Enjoy!

You heard it here first: we are officially in Mauve-ember1

Color of the month: Mauve

Mauve seems to be loosely interpreted across the many brands of art supplies, which excites me about using this color. Some are more muted pink, while others lean toward violet.
