In this demo we’re gonna draw like it’s 1999… because that’s when these photos were taken. Drawing from yearbooks is so much fun, so we’re doing it in today’s exercise.
Drawing in this format helps me find a rhythm in my mark-making that I really love. Does it have that effect on you? I’m very curious to hear how others find this rhythm!
Things to try:
Negative space - start to draw draw around the students, rather than the students themselves.
Color blocking - Color in the shapes of the figures (wet materials are great for this), then add details on top.
Continuous line - Don’t lift your pen or pencil off the page as you draw each student.
