Love this Beth! I'm SOOO looking forward to the session. It will be 10pm for me, and my dog will already be snuggled in bed. She's very attached to her routine!
I'll catch up the replay, sadly can't join as I'm having a rought days with conjunctivitis 😢 dogs are the best, I miss them but now I have a cat-dog! Have fun in the session ❤️
Me too! I loved listening to you on the Sneaky Art podcast this week too! It's inspiring how you encourage everyone to draw what resonates them, instead of the obvious thing. It really pumped me up for the session!
I love trying to capture a dog’s facial expression, especially if it’s goofy!
My favourite memory of a dog is when I first met my Dexter, a 1-year old English Bulldog that I was considering adopting from a coworker of my sister who could no longer look after him. When we met, he backed his beautiful little curly-tailed butt into my lap and promptly farted. It was love! (Fun fact! Dexter and I share(d) a birthday!)
I find it tricky to place a dog’s eyes properly on their face - the depth between the nose tip and eye placement is hard to judge!
That Dexter sounds like a charming fellow! English bulldogs are sooooo cute. I like their chunkiness. Did y'all ever have a double birthday party?
The eyes and nose can mess me up at times too! I'll get lost in those details and end up with strange mystery creature. Lately it's been helpful to get the full shape of the dog, then go right to the nose and plop that down. Then eyes relative to the nose. If I start any other way, I'll get lost in adding details and then the scary non-dog creature emerges. 😆
I had a beloved shih tzu/chihuahua mix for many years and she had very scruffy fur that was its own challenge to draw, but it made drawing dog anatomy pretty forgiving because it simply obscured a lot of it.
A year ago we adopted a compact little pibble/bulldog mix, and drawing her is SO different. She's got very short, smooth fur, and she's like a little bodybuilder - her muscles have their own muscles! If I get those muscles wrong in a drawing then she looks like a lumpy bag of potatoes. Honestly, when she lays all goofy and half upside down on the couch, sometimes she DOES look like a lumpy bag of potatoes, but the rest of the time can be tricky to draw accurately. 😅 Still fun to try though!
Thank you Beth!! I so enjoy being in your’s and Shivam’s sessions. I always learn new things and love the connectedness i feel. You are such a sweet spirit Beth and like I mentioned this morning, I’ve got lots of stories. I guess I should start writing them down on my substack (which is dormant) but it’s much more fun for me, telling them. Lol Thanks for being so YOU!!! ❤️
Enjoyed listening to this! I wish I had a dog but it’s just not possible but missing my brothers beautiful gentle, and confident german shepherd dog! Can’t wait to see wait you all create 🐶
The only canine I have drawn so far is wolves and african wild dog. Never my own dog. Okey I might have sketched him when we where to the vet last time. But nothing big. Kili is my best friends. Comes to me when I cry. Bark at me when I’m irretated. And let me come to him and cuddle when I have panic attacks. If I did not have him, I would not been writing this. 😊
Btw all the dog pictures are so cuuute! Wrens smile is just a happy drog!
I love drawing my two little friends Ringo and Joy ,they are black Schnauzers with thick eyebrows and dark eyes.I find it difficult to draw their eyes and express their deep looks because of the black fur... So looking forward to paint dogs with you in the replay
Thanks for a great session. I don’t think I would have drawn as many dogs if I hadn’t met you! Even though I do get pet commissions, drawing and painting dogs with you is always fun.
This was so fun to listen to, Beth! Looking forward to the replay, I have not caught a live session in awhile... but I am hoping to change that soon. :)

Thank you Raj! So glad you're joining, and with Queen Nala! 🐾💞
What i find difficult about dogs are the back legs🤔 but i use my imagination 🤣
Remind us during the session to talk about this!
Back legs are are tricky! Happy to share some ways to approach them in the session! 😬

So sorry you're dealing with that, Teresa! I'll get the replay up tomorrow. 💖 Maybe cat dogs are the best, because you get the best of both!
So looking forward! Love your love of animals, Beth.

I need to re-listen to that! Its been a while so I forget all that we talked about.

I would always him his own little peanut butter apple cake so we could eat cake together! I'll find a photo of the fateful fart, LOL!

May every dog find their person 🐾

Schnauzers are such fun shapes! Dark fur is so challenging for me too, especially with the gorillas. I think Mwelu taught me to use blue! 💙
good idea!

I love drawing our dog Piper!
Awww I love drawing dogs with you! 🐕
