Icy in the streets. Warm in the sheets.
I was close to a complete Mary-Lennox-Secret-Garden style transformation.
I fell in love with fresh air, drawing out of doors, and making many new animal friends. Then Mother Nature had other plans and covered the city with her wintry mix. I'm accident prone on even the nicest days, so I avoid the streets when they're coated with sheets of ice.
Being stuck at home with my delightful spouse and pets hasn't been all bad. Eric's made green chili stew and we put socks on Charles.
But I'm ready to go out and draw again! Here's a kid I saw in line at Trader Joe's on Monday, which was the last time I left the house.
I also added some things to my website, including a bit about my process for The Little Prince cover art.
There’s a detailed version on Patreon, which you can now try for free!
Test out the free trial now and you can join the next two drawing sessions, where we’re drawing images from these books. I’m excited!
I’m practicing interactions this month and experimenting with new materials (probably more oil pastels and watercolors) to create interesting interchanges between characters.
I look forward to sharing more of my process and drawings with you!
In other news, I’ve set up subscriptions here on Substack, so if you’d like to join the sessions from this platform, be my guest! I’ll add the Zoom details to the paid newsletter and bada-bing! You’ll get the invites, along with some bonus peeks at my process and inspiration.
