When you’re stuck at home, you might as well do something you love. I love drawing without expectations. I think you’ll like it too!

A 3 Materials Challenge Drawing of Reggie on the couch. More on that here.

I made my own snug sofa studio for creating on the fly or quarantining. It’s simple! You really only three things:

  1. Big Tray - I use this old Coca-Cola serving tray from my grandma’s house, but you can grab a baking sheet or any kind of container that’ll keep your pencils and crayons from rolling off your tiny table.

  2. Tiny table - Not as important as the Big Tray, in my professional opinion, but it is helpful. I like this one from Target. It’s collapsible and I’ve used it for pop-ups as well.

  3. Art supply separator trays - also from Target! The more the merrier, I say. The tins that colored pencil sets and Neocolors are packaged in also work well.

I drew the tiger in Emma Carlisle's Patreon replay, and the other two in Sarah van Dongen's this week.

If you’re stuck at home because you’re unwell, then you may not have the energy to think about what you want to draw. You may feel better just moving materials around on paper - a wonderful way to pass the time! Letting yourself play and enjoying the process is better than stressing over creating something to post.

Drawing session replays have been helpful for moments when I’m not feeling my best and have to quarantine. My replays are here for you to practice whenever you need them!

I recommend this video by

on creating while unwell. It’s a lovely reminder to be gentle with yourself and remove expectations.
