Vigo invites you to take a minute out of your day to breathe and meet yourself where you are.
It may sound silly, but my pets are important to my practice and staying present. Shifting my focus to Charles’ funny ear flip or the way Sean’s paw is neatly folded under his chin is a way to not take what I’m doing so seriously.
The Magic of Time Lapse
Watching a blank page turn into an illustration is truly something to behold.
Do you ever record yourself and watch the drawing unfold? Observing your own process can be a brilliant reminder of three important things:
1. Drawings can look quite bad between the beginning and end, and that is okay.
2. You can destroy an illustration, and then turn it into something different and fun.
3. Some of the work you thought was terrible is actually quite charming in its own weird way.
This was really lovely. It also justifies, for me, the time I spend looking at my own dog and the other Glen of Imaal Terriers that I follow on Instagram. Love your sketchbook also! I need to relax more in mine!
