Looking forward to making my first sketch book. I ordered a small starter kit from Amazon for $6.99. I’m sure the process will be really fun to learn 🙂
I hope to join you tomorrow, even if I'm still swatch in colored pencils for Italy and just watching the session. One tip for using paper that is different on the front and back sides (like water color paper): Before you fold your pages, stack up your paper and alternate the front and back sides. I usually mark the backside with a tiny X in a corner so I can tell them apart easily. That makes every spread have the same paper surface on both sides of the center fold.
Awesome, Carol! You're welcome to join in for a swatch & watch. You're so generous in sharing tips in sessions. If you're up for it, it'd be amazing to have your help in the chat, answering questions folks might type during the demo. No pressure! Feel free to DM me with any questions!
This is a promising session! Handmade sketchbooks are so special, I tend to make my very tiny 🥰 sometimes I use just glue or staples to bind the sheets together 😂
I love a tiny sketchbook! I almost bought a heavy duty stapler to make books, then I found that awesome tutorial Margaux made and loved how flat the books lay!
I’m so excited about this! I used to make my sketchbooks during my college years and then for my traveler’s notebook. Gathered a couple of materials I have around and ready to join you tomorrow! Thank you for hosting and organizing this!
I can’t wait for it to start!! My struggle starts when I realized I haven’t cleaned my table before I start making sketchbooks, but I am so ready for this session!
OMG Citla, I just looked at my messy desk, said "No ma'am, not now" and then went right to the computer haha. I'm a fan of sweeping everything into a box and deal with it later. Probably not my best habit.
Aw we missed you but look forward to hearing what you think. I love your method too! I drew my favorite owls of all time in that first sketchbook I made from your video. 🦉💖
Hey! I didn't read through the comments, but did you know we CAN get Pith's from Jackson's Maine factory (just not all of the colors for some reason)!!

Perfect! I'm happy you're coming!

Beth I love the box idea!! I just need an extra empty box 😂😂 the ones I have are already full 🥹
I folded paper on the dining room table so I wouldn’t have to clean my work table! 👏😄
I LOVE making my own sketchbooks! And usually they look like a crazy mess haha Thank you so much for sharing your books and supplies!
Sorry I missed the live session with Margaux! I will watch replay!

WOWOW! These are gorgeous Beth!
Thank you so much, Margaux! I’m excited to keep making my own and gifting them to special peeps. 😬
Is there a place to catch the replay? I signed up too late

I took a bookbinding class last year and it was so fun! Your video makes me want to unearth my supplies again.
